When I Feel 05:28
When I feel
I want to touch
When I do
I do too much
When I go
I go too far
What I want
I want more I'm going to last a lifetime I'm feeling frail
Dead afraid
 Trapped, earthbound
Peace flew away
 Arm in a sling
My broken wing
This day is gone
Thistle in my palm I'm going to last a lifetime Greet the new day
Feel a new way
 Figure time
 With math of mine
I glow and flow
I frost the glass
 Feel electric
Big and blasting Hobo a train
I can't fail
 Boxcar free
Chug down the rails
Ride on wheels
Learn and yearn
I'm on fire
Feel me burn I'm going to last a lifetime
2.
Snow Down 05:57
It's snowing
Cool out all is fine
And my eyes are bugging out of my mind
And my ears are falling out of my head
And I fear
Honey, we are dead It's snowing
Cool out all is fine
And my eyes are bugging out of my mind
And my ears are falling out of my head
And I fear
Honey, we are dead You see
 Here the weather doesn't change
It's all you can do to stop and rearrange
 It's snowing
 Cool out all is fine
And my eyes are bugging out of my mind It's snowing
Cool out all is fine
And my eyes are bugging out of my mind
And my ears are falling out of my head
And I fear
Honey, we are dead It's snowing
 Cool out all is fine

Breaking 03:07
Changing shapes
Falling apart
 Slowly pull together again
Amber waves and says goodbye
 The more you kiss
The more you cry Gliding away
Changing shapes
Slowly pull together again
Amber waves and says goodbye
 The more you kiss
The more you cry Open your coat
And follow the boat
Until the last moment
 The man says...
Take this

Happy Feet 05:21
As I walk down the street
Cats meow, dogs bark
My heart beats your name All the clocks that I see
Don't give me the time of day
No, no instead they show me your smile As the word is to the flower
 So it is with us
We are only really talking when we kiss and hug Put your little heart in mine
I'll shelter you from the storm outside
You can set your bird free in my sky I put my faith squarely in you
I put my faith squarely in us
I put my faith squarely in me
I put my faith squarely in us Who's going to stop your tears from running?
Who's going to stop your eyes from burning?
Who's going to make you smile now? Who's going to walk down your lonely streets?
Holding your hand in love so sweet?
Who's going to give you happy feet? Who're you going to save for a rainy day?
To come and chase your clowds away?
Oh, please, honey let it be me. Put it on my shoulders baby
I can carry the load
I can cover you up like a blanket when you're cold I put my faith squarely in you
I put my faith squarely in us
I put my faith squarely in me
I put my faith squarely in us

Jaded Jean 03:50
If you could see like jaded jean
You wouldn't have a need for dreams
Like jaded jean in her jaded scene
She's planting seeds
A garden queen You can find her at home almost every night
Writing letters on sheets of white
Or jade green
 From her garden stream
She's consciously falling asleep
Jaded jean Would you believe
Her father's at home
Watching the clocks
 While mommy's alone
And would you believe
In all of these things
If you could see
Like jaded jean If you could work out everything
And fill the holes the ashes bring
You wouldn't have a need for dreams
Like jaded jean
In her jaded scene The stories come before she falls asleep
She draws the people she wants to meet
They live in houses filled with schemes
The sun rises up
And floods her streams Would you believe
Her father's at home
Watching the clocks
While mommy's alone
And would you believe
In all of these things
 If you could see
Like jaded jean If you could be like jaded jean
You wouldn't have a need for dreams

Rainbowmaker 05:45
Rainbows have a way of knowing
And welcoming the light
Flying its flag Rainbows have a way of showing
And teaching about light
Naming all the colors Water with its peace with time
Can block and bend the light
I want to be that water I am a rainbow chaser
I want to get that pot
Of gold at the end I want to see the way
I want to know the way
Sailing on the waves
Floating in the waves
Feeling a part of time
Feeling all of the time I want to be a rainbowmaker
I want to be a prism-man
I want to show my colors I want a sky, each star an eye
Mirroring me back my man
Shining on me, shining me I want to be, be understood
And I want, want to be heard
I want to be cared about I want to be a rainbowmaker
To refract a tiny piece
Of all the distance of light I want to be a rainbowmake r
I want to be a prism-man
Iwant to show you my colors I want to see the way
I want to know the way
Sailing on the waves
Floating in the waves
 Feeling a part of time
Feeling all of the time
7.
I used to see the truth inside of what you said
Instead of thinking you're a kid
But those days seem so far away
I can only vaguely remember High tides, low tides come and gone
Two more mooncalves torn asunder
Save me a whistle in eighteen years
Or don't; its all the same to me Know your ghosts and you will never be alone
Never be alone never be alone
Know your ghosts Know your ghosts and you will never be alone
Never be alone never be alone
Know your ghosts
8.
Sense 04:08
Thought you had a gun
And I didn't want to run
So follow me down to the sea
Stop along the way at a place that we can hide
You're the one holding the key A lady gathers grass
And watches where she's been
She hopes none of her neighbors will see
She's stepping inside of a bus thats turning green
For once in her life she is free
9.
Firecracker 04:44
I believe in colors
So bright and full
So extreme I believe in light
Florescent, candle
And the sun It's not enough
To not be afraid of electricity
 You've got to believe
You've got to believe Give me your hums, your drums
Your drones and moans and
All the riches of your Gold Coast Give me your wings, your web
Give me your heart and head
Give me your smoke ghost The past is past, the future's best
I'm standing here
Ready for anything that comes You and me will not
Go down in history
We'll just be disappeared and drowned But, there's a lot of freedom out there
And I'm just trying for my piece
 Oh, you've got to believe
You've got to believe Show me your wrist, your lips, your kiss
Your needs and knees
Show me what you fear most Show me your ankle, show me your elbow
Show me your anger
 Show me your smoke ghost
Show me
10.
Percolate 09:31
Primo afternoon
To catch a train and zoom
 Tunnel down to a curve
Get off before you swerve You're never coming back
 You're on the second track
 You're leaving here you're gone
Just drive into the sun A candy smile and you
 Slow burning sweet perfume
Take all the time you need
Take in the sound of steam You're never coming back
You're on the second track
 You're leaving here you're gone
Just drive into the sun You're tired sink down below
 You really need to glow
 Then get behind the wheel
It's all you've got to feel You're never coming back
 You're on the second track
 You're leaving here you're gone
Just drive into the sun

about

Smoke Ghost (1998) is the third full length studio album released on CD by Tadpoles and is the first album with Tadpoles' new drummer, Adam Boyette. Upon original release, Bakery Records included a copy of Tadpoles Destroy Terrastock - Live with all mail-orders. The song "Breaking" is a re-recording of the original version which appeared on the group's 1992 cassette-only album, Superwhip. "Know Your Ghosts" is identical to the version which was released on the 1997 Know Your Ghosts E.P.

““★★★★ 1/2” Hard driving and intense, swirling and visceral” –ALL MUSIC GUIDE (July 1998)“dense, swirling layers of guitar noise which owe at least as much to the British shoegazer crowd as
anything from the ‘60’s” –JERSEY BEAT (#63, Falll ‘98) “ten shots of intoxicating symphonies from the stoned underbelly of the space-rock continuum”
–PTOLEMAIC TERRASCOPE (#25, 1998) “Two volumes of fuzzed-out overdrive, droning acid folk and yeah, S3 references.” –MAGNET (#53, 1998)
Terrastock review- “One of the most well-received bands were Hoboken’s Tadpoles..the most classically “psychedelic” of any band at the festival and the the same time, the most polished. “
–JERSEY JOURNAL (Jim Testa, May 3, 1997) Terrastock review- “...Tadpoles succesfully crossed Pink Floyd and My Bloody Valentine.”
–LOS ANGELES FREE TIMES (May, 1997)
“(They have) succeeded yet again in producing a very convincing psychedelic beauty full of hazy, magic rock sounds, journeys through space, adventures in Syd Barrett’s garden and zonked atmospheres, a perfect balance between tripped-out vibes and immaculate acoustics...Recommended.” –CROHINGA WELL (Belgium, #15, May 1999)
“A lot of psych rock bands tend to play the same song over and over. Not these guys. Every track has a new riff and a new feel to it. ” –FRESH COW PIE (#2, Fall 1998)
“Fills a room with swirling smoke and fuzz and dreamy galactic vocals that defy any principle of gravity – you will absolutely float when you play this” –EYE (#17, Aug/Sept ‘98)
“For their classically strange acid pop and surreal poetry, Tadpoles can claim the crown of reigning drug rock kings.”–OUTSIGHT (www.rocklove.com 1998)
“the third studio album from the best American psychedelic band I’ve heard...” –FACE MAGAZINE(Undertones September 13, 1998)
“Tadpoles don’t sound like anyone else, which is not only unusual, but immensely gratifying...indie tinged, psyche spacerock, lovingly crafted and performed stylishly...” –ZEITGEIST(Scotland,Vol 3, #7, 1998)
