Sunrise Ocean Bender (Ampreon Mix)

from Nine Rays Of Moonshine by Tadpoles

about

Closing Track / Ray 9 , is Sunrise Ocean Bender (Ampreon Mix), from 2001’s comprehensive Use With Headphones Late At Night. The original mix appeared on 1999’s Whirlaway album, but over time, this has become my preferred mix. It’s a bit punchier and was done by old pal, Pete Drivere in his Ampreon Recorder warehouse studio in gritty Youngstown, Ohio. It’s not every song that eventually becomes the name of both a radio show and a record label, but this one did. Richmond, VA’s musical wizard and champion of underground psych, Kevin McFadin, connected with me at some point in 2010 after I noticed a review he published on his blog about the Whirlaway album, and became a dear friend. Kevin has used the S.O.B.moniker for his WRIR radio show as well as his indie label over the past decade, providing a forum and platform for exceptional music that decidedly falls outside the mainstream. This remains my final song written for the Tadpoles project, something that occupied me from the mid 80’s through our final show at Maxwells in Hoboken in February 2000. So, I really wanted it to be a closing statement of sorts, maybe a little bit epic in nature. And with that final ray of moonshine, the Tadpoles story comes to an end. ? ~ TP

lyrics

Nothing to believe in

Nothing worth seeing

It's ok

The dunes are frozen

Throw rocks in the ocean

The waves are astounding

The heart keeps on pounding

It's ok

Your arms are golden

Your sunlights are broken

When night is falling

You hear me calling
Can you tell me how to see

Can you tell me how to look

I can't find my way inside

I haven't read the book

It's ok

The sunrise ocean bender

The sunrise ocean bender
